Soccer Mappr Support
Thank you for using Soccer Mappr! Here’s everything you need to get the most out of the app.
Getting Started
- Install both apps — Soccer Mappr includes an iPhone app and an Apple Watch app. Both are installed automatically from the App Store.
- Grant Health access — On first launch, the iPhone app will ask for access to Apple Health. This is required to read your match workouts and GPS routes.
- Start a match from your Watch — Open Soccer Mappr on your Apple Watch, tap Open Workout, and begin your match. The watch records everything automatically.
- Review on iPhone — After the match, open Soccer Mappr on your iPhone. Your match and heatmap will appear once the data syncs from your watch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an Apple Watch?
A: Yes. The workout and GPS tracking happen on your Apple Watch. The iPhone app is for reviewing your heatmaps and match history — it does not record workouts on its own.
Q: What Apple Watch and iPhone versions are supported?
A: Soccer Mappr requires watchOS 10 or later and iOS 18 or later.
Q: How does the heatmap work?
A: Your Apple Watch records continuous GPS throughout the match. After the game, Soccer Mappr takes that GPS route and renders it as a heatmap over a soccer field, showing which zones of the pitch you covered most.
Q: My match isn’t showing up on iPhone. What should I do?
A: Make sure both devices are connected (Bluetooth or Wi-Fi) and that iCloud is enabled. Match data syncs via CloudKit, so an internet connection is needed for the first sync. It may take a minute or two after finishing the match.
Q: Can I rate my performance and log goals after the match?
A: Yes. After finishing a workout on your watch, a summary screen lets you rate yourself, log goals and assists, and select which positions you played. You can also edit any of these later by swiping a match in your watch history and tapping Edit.
Q: Can I edit match stats on iPhone too?
A: Stats editing is currently done on the Apple Watch. The iPhone app shows your match history and heatmaps.
Q: What does the heatmap actually show?
A: It shows your real GPS movement plotted on a soccer field layout. Areas you covered most appear as hot zones. You can swipe between multiple visual styles on iPhone.
Q: Can I share my heatmap?
A: Yes. On iPhone, open any match and tap the share button. You can choose to include or exclude your match stats and health data before sharing.
Q: Where is my data stored?
A: Your workout data is stored in Apple Health. Match stats (goals, assists, rating, positions) sync between your devices via iCloud/CloudKit. Nothing is sent to external servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Q: Does the app drain my Apple Watch battery?
A: Soccer Mappr uses HealthKit’s standard workout session, which is the same API used by Apple’s own Workout app. Battery usage is comparable to recording a workout in the built-in Workout app. A typical 90-minute match should be fine for most Apple Watch models.
Q: Can I use Soccer Mappr for other sports?
A: Soccer Mappr is designed specifically for soccer. The heatmap is rendered on a soccer pitch, and the stats (positions, goals, assists) are soccer-specific.
Q: How do I delete a match?
A: On your Apple Watch, swipe a match in the history list and tap the trash icon. This will delete both the HealthKit workout and the match record.
